The cathedral of the Lady of
Copacabana was built in the XVI century. It is the most characteristic sign of the town.
The church combine styles like baroque and renaissance. Our dark Lady of the Candelaria
brings pilgrimage from different parts of the country and South America.
Approximate 600 meters south of the town, you will find the
hill of Kesanani o Sirocani, a singular Pre-Hispanic monument know as the Horca del Inca.
It is an astronomical Observatory to watch the spring and fall equinoxes. This monument is
very enigmatic because it was a scientific place to study the movements of the Sun, the
Moon and predictions of eclipses. It is also possible they used to mark the movements of
others planets.
The Calvary hill, nice view point of the lake, is a mystical
place where the catholic and native beliefs blend together. The Yatiris in this hill are a
part of a millenary traditions, witchcraft ,magic and ceremonies of blessing for good
luck. They used herbs and natural products to prepare a Ceremonial table (Mesa
ceremonial). The Yatiris use coca leaves to help people with a particular illness or
problem. Coca leaves considered sacred is also used for future telling.
The ideal complement to enjoy all
these attractions would be spending a few days in our Hotel Rosario del Lago. A charming
and delightful hotel which all rooms has nice views of the lake, particularly spectacular
at sunset. It has 28 rooms with private bathrooms, TV, restaurant, games room, car park.
